The Graduate Institute of Political Science (GIPS) was established in 1968 under the name of \u201cthe Graduate Institute of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen\u201d. In order to harmonize with the social development, the graduate programs were enhanced and the institute was reformed to \u201cthe Graduate Institute of Political Science\u201d in 2003. This Institute offers MA and PhD degrees in political science. The purpose of the programs in the GIPS is to promote and develop students\u2019 academic research or working capability in political science.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The GIPS aims to fulfill the following objectives on students:
1.Promoting research capacity on the field of political science and East Asian Studies;
2.Enhancing training to gain qualifications for teaching on the related fields of social sciences;

There are seven full-time professors in the GIPS. Research and teaching specialties are the followings: Overseas Chinese Studies, National Development Theory, Globalization and Constitutionalism, Theory of Democratization, Western Political Thought, Political Party and Election, Political Behaviour, Public International Law, International Organization, Mainland Chinese Political and Economic Development, Cross Strait Relations, International Relations Theory, and International Political Economy.
The purpose of the programs in the GIPS is to promote and develop students\u2019 academic research or working capability in political science.<\/p>
